Oakland Mutual Aid Collective (OMAC)

The Oakland Mutual Aid Collective is a partnership between Council President Pro Tem Sheng Thao, Dr. Connie Wun of AAPI Women Lead, the UCSF Center for Child and Community Health, the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health and the UCSF Black Women’s Health and Livelihood Initiative. Together with the community we have:

  • Fundraised for, procured and distributed tens of thousands of masks, gloves and hand sanitizer for under-resourced, marginalized and vulnerable communities in Oakland.
  • Supported the development and distribution of public health information in English and Spanish at the start of the pandemic
  • Mobilized and organized community volunteers to support this effortthrough mutual aid kit assembly
